Nolan Bio
Nolan Marshall was born with music in his soul. From his first Kindergarten stage performance, through years of college, music has always been Nolan’s passion. Nolan credits his Christian upbringing for giving him the heart and desire to live a life of service to others.
In 1980, Nolan moved to Seminole, Florida from his birthplace of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Soon after moving, Nolan got married and shortly thereafter, started his own piano rebuilding service. A decade and half later, in 1995 Nolan was hired by Largo Fire Rescue, where he continued to work for 25 years. Between work and family, it became a necessity to put his musical dreams on hold, indefinitely.
At Christmas time Nolan could share his love for Jesus to the public. After all, many still accepted the fact that Christmas, along with being the time of year for Santa and gift sharing, was also the birthday of the Christ Child. Nolan would therefore consider it a personal privilege and mission, that he could share the “good news”, and could in his own way to bring joy to the world around him. His shows had very humble beginnings.
In 2003, Nolan had the very good fortune of meeting world class opera tenor, Giorgio Aristo, while moving his piano. From that moment on, Nolan’s life would never be the same again. As it turned out, Nolan became Giorgio’s very first vocal student. What’s more, the vocal lessons continued for years, leading to a lifetime friendship between Giorgio and Nolan.
Giorgio’s only response for his generosity was telling Nolan “Call it a ‘pay it forward’”. With Giorgio’s lessons and influence, Nolan went on to sing arias in seven languages, and lead roles in small opera houses. Nolan also earned the privilege of singing backup vocals, a couple seasons, for Andrea Bocelli, at the Tampa Forum.
Nolan very soon became the featured singer for several patriotic events and Sunday soloist at churches in various cities. Then, Nolan stepped out on his own, and began to sing self-produced Christmas shows, which started to gain popularity within the community.
Nolan would initially volunteer to perform in the beautifully decorated Botanical Gardens in Largo. His early shows were simply entitled “Nolan and Friends”. He never accepted donations, rather preferred this to be his gift to the public.
Nolan thereafter pursued on his best efforts to find the best singers available for the shows. He found singers like him, having big dreams, but had to put their dreams on hold, while enjoying singing for the love of music. Nolan eventually gathered his team of singers who could sing from the heart, while enjoying the excitement and laughter of the audiences.
Over the next years, Nolan’s shows grew in size and in popularity. Nolan invested so much into audio equipment, costumes, lights and special effects to make his shows the best of the best. The rewards of the whole magical experiences of each and every performance outweighed the grueling work and hours invested. In Nolan’s words, his performances were “memories made for life that cannot be bought with money.”
To remember and create everlasting memories of all of the performances, Nolan invested in videography, special effects, amazing costumes and more. With these, the shows came out more alive, memorable and spectacular!! Nolan sent the show recordings to neighbouring communities, requesting to perform in any of their upcoming public Christmas events. Amazingly, EVERY city responded with a “YES”!!
Nolan and his crew soon started performing for every sizable Santa Parade and Christmas tree lightings, with all the most awesome city light displays. Their audiences grew to thousands and tens of thousands! The shows were titled “Nolan’s Christmas Extravaganza” which fit the shows best. To this day, Nolan and his crew are living upto this name and reputation, while meeting or better yet surpassing the expectations of their audiences!!
Nolan and crew are always on the lookout for new talent. They don’t hesitate to turn down singers with the attitude of “What’s in it for me?”, no matter how good they sound. This is absolutely what Nolan and his crew don’t do! Nolan’s show has been built on Loving, Caring and Sharing. The very message that Nolan and crew wish to convey through their audiences is one of selfless giving, rather than one of self-centeredness.
We pray that we will be able to continue to share the LOVE, JOY, LAUGHTER and MAGIC of our Christmas productions for several years to come. Come out, See and Enjoy our “Nolan’s Christmas Extravaganza” shows for yourselves!!
